"C.O.R.E. FIT Bootcamp and Running Group:  The workouts are challenging.  Steph and the other campers will push you and encourage you.  We have a great group of women at all fitness levels who work hard and work together.  Whether you want to lose weight, tone muscles, or just hang out with other ladies, this is the place to be.  I have  been with the bootcamp for two years and still enjoy the workouts."  - Stacy
"Boot camp will change you.  You'll feel better, look better, and walk taller.   You'll sleep better and have more energy.  C.O.R.E.FIT is not just an exercise class; it's an hour with an extraordinary group of women dedicated to improving themselves and encouraging their fellow boot campers to do the same.  It's hard work but its also a lot of fun!" - Laura
"Being a lady of wisdom and one who has entered her 50's; I consider this period of my life to be about "ME". After raising five sons and a daughter (and love being a Mom) it's just time for me.  What better way to feel good about myself than to have joined C.O.R.E.FIT Bootcamp.  Not only for the physical aspects, but mentally and emotionally; I feel so GOOD!!.  Do I feel the pain?...LOL ....you bet I do.  But the exhilarating feeling of accomplishment when I do well, or the challenge of pushing myself to the limit outweighs all!  So, being that lady of wisdom, I will keep taking care of me." - Glynda

"If you're thinking of joining boot camp, Give it a try!! You will not regret it.  The group is made up of all women from all ages, levels and sizes which made me feel more comfortable at the beginning. I've learned core exercises for the first time that help strengthen & tone my body. The exercises challenged me and I was motivated by the results I continued to see month by month. It's fun, challenging & rewarding.  I'm a 36 year old mother of three and work full time. If I can do it so can you!!" - Nanette

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.  It is estimated that close to 200,000 women will be diagonsed with breast cancer this year alone.  Although there are risks you cannot control such as age and genetics, research indicates that some lifestyle risk factors for breast cancer are well within our power to change.  Being overweight or obese increases your risk, lack of physical activity, and a poor diet (high in saturated fat), as well as excessive alcohol consumption (more than 1-2 drinks per day) also contribute to an increased risk.  These are risk factors that DON'T HAVE TO BE!  We all have the power to control these, and limit our risk.  We all have to be advocates for our own health; take charge of making small changes that can drastically improve our lives.

Early detection can save your life!  We all know that women can talk - but we aren't talking enough about this.  Encourage your friends and family members to schedule regular mamograms, clinical breast exams, and perform monthly self exams.  You can find a self exam guide, and other valuable resources at www.nationalbreastcancer.org.

At the very least, monthly self breast exams, maintaining a healthy weight, following a healthy, low saturated fat diet, performing regular exercise, and reducing alcohol consumption to no more than two drinks per day can drastically reduce your risk of being afflicted with breast cancer.
